Srinagar, May 06 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra on Tuesday said the party was committed to supporting the Union Government in any action against the perpetrators of terrorism. Speaking to media persons in Srinagar, Karra, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the Congress Working Committee’s resolution regarding the recent Pahalgam attack was clear. “We stand by the government for any action against the perpetrators. We support every step taken in the country’s best interest,” Karra said. Responding to a question on the mock drill, Karra called it a preparedness exercise. “If a mock drill is happening here, it encourages others to prepare as well,” he said. About the status of the cabinet’s business rules report and the Lieutenant Governor’s response, Karra said contradictory information was emerging. “Some are saying it has been rejected, others suggest queries were raised. We should wait for clarity before drawing conclusions.” On the meeting of Leader of the Opposition (LOP) Rahul Gandhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Karra called that a strong message, stating that Congress stands united with the government on national security matters. Responding to a question on search operations post-Pahalgam attack, Karra said, “It is for the government to decide the process, but we had cautioned that no innocent should be caught in it.” Asked whether Congress was backing a war-like stance, Karra cautioned against warmongering. “War is a dangerous word. But if the government takes action in the national interest, Congress will support it.” Karra also welcomed the approval of the Caste Census, crediting Rahul Gandhi’s persistent efforts. “We are happy that due to Rahul ji's consistent efforts, the government was forced to approve the caste census. In the coming days, a three-day workshop will be held to discuss its details.” Speaking about the party’s today’s meet, he said the meeting was focused on administrative matters, where inputs were shared and programs were discussed—(KNO)
